This deal popped up in my RSS reader yesterday via 9to5Toys:
Staples is now taking up to $150 off Wi-Fi only models of Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The baseline 32GB model comes in at $699 with free shipping, which is a savings of $100 and a match for the lowest we’ve seen this year.
The standout deal from this sale is the 128GB variant for $799 shipped. That’s the same price Apple normally charges for the 32GB model. Spending an extra $100 to quadruple your available storage is a no-brainer move.
Need to be connected while on-the-go? The 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular is still on sale for $949.99 (Reg. $1,079).
There have also been reports that Best Buy is matching the price in store. The deal is slated to run through March 20th but it's possible it may end before then if the numbers set aside for the deal are limited. I was surprised to see this much knocked off a fairly new product.
So...I bought one. The 128GB Wi-Fi in Space Gray.
I'll pause for your laughter...
While I was never particularly interested in the iPad Pro, I've been intrigued by it ever since I spent some serious time with it at the Apple Store last month. The idea of a full size on-screen keyboard, the Apple Pencil and the ability to read and annotate PDF documents at full size or larger is compelling. I'm still not sure this is the device for me. But after hearing so many of my friends and colleagues fall in love with the device I felt that I at least had to try it.
I also ordered an Apple Pencil to have the full experience. Both should be delivered later this week or early next, I'll report back.
