For my daily commute, I don’t typically mount my iPad in my car. But for longer trips, my iPhone becomes an important accessory for GPS navigation, entertainment, and more. Car mounts are great, but many mounts are ugly, require excessive installation, or are difficult to take with you. I’ve tried a couple of different solutions for keeping mounting my iPhone in the car and the Kenu Airframe is the best fit for my lifestyle.
The Airframe’s primary feature is versatility. It will expand to fit a variety of phones, including an iPhone in many types of cases. Airframe attaches to the air vent of most any car, which will usually place your iPhone at eye-level. There are no tools necessary, the Airframe simply snaps in place so it can be easily removed and re-mounted in any other vehicle. At less than 2.5“ wide and 2” deep, the Airframe can be easily thrown into a purse or travel bag to take with you. The manufacturer also advertises that it can be used as a “travel stand” by placing a credit card in the vent clip and standing the Airframe on its side.
While I don’t typically drive around day-to-day with the Airframe installed, I always keep it in my center console for easy access when needed. At $24.95 (Amazon) it’s one of the most inexpensive car mounts I’ve seen while being one of the most functional. The standard size Airframe will still fit my iPhone 6 with the fairly minimal Apple leather case. There’s also an Airframe+ version available for $29.95 (Amazon) that is slightly larger but will support larger phone or phones with larger cases and “phablets” up to 6"
