Last year I jumped in and bought a 2016 MacBook Pro. Adjusting to the new computer has had its ups and downs. But one fo the pleasures of a new machine means a new case. I've long admired Waterfield design but never actually owned one of their bags. With the arrival of my new MacBook Pro, I was looking for an everyday bag that was minimalistic, had room to carry a few accessories and would be appropriate for use at work in my day job as an attorney.
The folks at Waterfield came through and sent me a Syde MacBook Case and I have been delighted. The Syde is the best of both worlds. It combines the minimalism of a MacBook sleeve with a generous side-leather pocket to hold accessories (including all the dongles!) and a side pocket for holding paper, magazines or a notebook.
The Syde is designed to be carried like a briefcase and includes two leather grab handles. You can also attach an optional strap to carry the bag on your shoulder. Accessing your stuff is easy. The pouch is secured by a single snap and the computer compartment seals with magnetic seams. My MacBook Pro slides in and out easily and is protected by 6mm of lining around the computer compartment for impact protection.
My very first impression of the Syde was the smell of the full-grain leather when I opened the FedEx shipping container. (Don't laugh, it's a good thing!) Pulling the bag out of the box the craftsmanship and attention to detail was instantly obvious.
The Syde costs $159 for the 13" model and has become my daily carry bag for my MacBook Pro
